Use your case reference
Keep the case or appeal reference shown on official notices and correspondence. LL Courts & Tribunals Service uses that reference to identify the administrative record.
Documents and filing
File or send documents only through the route stated by the relevant procedure, form, case notice or court or tribunal direction. A general message to a Government or Judiciary account is not a substitute for valid filing.
Updates on an application or case
Administrative staff may confirm matters held on the case record, such as whether a document has been received or whether an administrative notice has been issued, where disclosure is permitted. They cannot predict, explain or change the judicial outcome.
Use the contact route supplied with your case or a specific service route where one has been established. This protects case information and avoids presenting an unofficial record as the court file.
Orders, judgments and decisions
Where a court or tribunal sends an order, judgment or decision, the official copy and any applicable appeal information govern the case. Public case-law publication is separate from case administration.
